Hows my little finisher?

The end of 2007 is nigh, time for my closer on the year. Whew is one thing I can say for sure. As I look back into last year I realized A lot changed in 06, and 07 just cemented it into life. Example, in 06 I forced myself to like beer. In 07 I drank copious amounts of it. In 06 I started riding my bike all over, in 07 I kept it up (until I got hit by that car, as well as my rear tire being plagued with constant flats). But many new things happened too. I wisely quit the Edgewater, I started working at ShelDon and as a designer for Late Night Kirby. I applied for a UROP in photography and was approved for it. Expect all sorts of cool light photos by May. I also Quit facebook and rejoined. With that Here is the breakdown of 07 as I saw it.

Best song: The Wombats - Lets Dance to Joy Division
This song makes me want to jump dance and smile.
Best movie (in theater): 300, 1408, Pirates of the Caribbean 3
300 was so very pretty, 1408 was so intense, I love Captain Jack Sparrow
Best movie (at Home): The Davinci Load?
A best for Titacular Tuesday.
Best Album: ___
My computer went shitty and CDs are too overpriced, no one wins this year.
Best Artist I should have heard Before 07: Suicide Machines
Surprisingly they aren't a scary band but rather they are full of mushy songs about girls and wonderful guitar hooks with catchy lyrics.
Best Book: Life of Pi
Was it the long or short version? I think the long.
Best concert: Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
Soooooo good at their instruments, it was crazy refreshing.
Best music video: Jamie Kennedy and Stu Stone - Circle Circle Dot Dot
The song is meh, the video is wonderful stop motion lego sweetness.
Best Bar Memory: The challenge was to drop a Car Bomb take a shot of whiskey and chase it with the Car Bomb. I couldn't handle it and spurted a tiny bit of barf out of my mouth. The look on Sarah's face made it memorable.
Best toy: Wii
Active video gaming is the way of the future, I love it endlessly.
Catchiest Tune: Avril's Girlfriend song.

Events of note:
No Hospital Trips
Starting my relationship with Laura
Spring break in Colorado with Jon and Rich
Beginning my new obsession with Geocaching.
Being Lactose intolerant then conquering it (kind of).
Waking up on my Matt's Washer and Dryer.
Getting a Grill for Free and grilling on it frequently.
Learning after effects and watching movie titles knowing I can make them.
Cutting my own hair.
Getting a new Computer.
Uncle Loui's burning and resurrection.
Thunderblizzard drinking and sledding down 21st.
All of my little getaways with Laura.

Whats in store for 08?
Graduationg college for sure.
Maybe a trip to Florida or Alaska.
An adventure to Colorado.
World Travel or living.
A job doing Some sort of Graphic Design.
Kicking ass at life.

Hows my little off the top?

I cut my hair today.

It was fun.

Hows my little Gas Problem?

Americans rely on foreign fuel too much. Yes
Americans can fix this by adding ethanol to gas. No!

When I heard about ethanol getting mixed into gas at first I said HURRAY! But over time I heard little mutterings of how ethanol getting mixed into our gas is not the enviromental savior our government is investing in.

I read once that bush went to Brazil to meet about how they could produce more sugar and corn for us Americans to pour into our cars. Of course this was met with protests from the general Brazillian public, because they actually like their rain forests and don't want to lose more in order to make some gas (for someone else). That is one great reason to not support ethanol.

I like the nitty gritty facts myself though. So here goes:

Using ethanol instead of gas can reduce greenhouse gases by 35-46%, according to Argonne National Laboratory. But it's not as efficient a fuel as gasoline. In fact, it takes a gallon and a half of ethanol to give you the same energy as a gallon of gas.
--That is kind of a give/take fact, yes its good, but what we have currently is better (kind of).

To get a gallon of ethanol, you need a little more than 26 pounds of corn, and an acre of land can yield about 9,400 pounds per year. In other words, one acre of land can generate about 362 gallons of ethanol per year.
--Assuming the farmer has a good year (lets ignore global warming on this one for the sake of the farmers)

People in the U.S. use about 174 million gallons of gasoline per day. Convert that to 100% ethanol and you have 261 million gallons per day.
--Imagine seeing a 50% larger fuel truck driving next to you on the road. Think it would need more (ethanol) gas to move it?

To produce that much corn Farmers would need 260 million acres.
--Farmers harvest from about 73 million annually.

So going along with that, to get a good yield you can bet they aren't farming organic corn. You can expect increased insecticide usage, more fertilizer (takes 137 pounds an acre) and a little weed killer.
--Don't forget we need to water that corn. Fresh water, Water people can drink.

These are just some simple facts about ethanol, yes it burns cleaner, yes it can "help" the atmosphere. But in the long run it CAN NOT help the environment or the human race.
Since it takes more to drive, we would need a bigger gas tank or a smaller car, and we know smaller cars won't happen soon.
It also raises the average American's grocery ticket. Remember when you look at all ingredients in the food you eat. You are guaranteed to find Modified Corn Starch, and/or High Fructose Corn Syrup, both found in corn, surprisingly. Thats because Sugar can't naturally grow in America, so we use this product. Lets not forget about livestock, remember what they eat? Ethanol takes farmers crops devoted to our diet into our gas tank. I would rather eat personally.

Really if you drive less, use more public transportation, and vote, you can make a bigger difference than ethanol will ever make.

Hows my little made out?

In one of my classes I am learning how to make flash programs, websites ect, for my final project I have decided to take on a game. The game I chose is a memory game, one where you flip tiles to find their pair, with the subject of beer. The premise is a player will flip over tiles revealing a logo or a glass of beer. The object is to match a beer logo with it's particular glass(or color) of beer.

Neat huh?
I think so too, except I hate flash.
Aside form that...

I am using my own photos of said beer in a glass because of a lack on the internet and tonight was the beer run night. I heard of a couple of places that had build your own six pack options. Without much luck at the one near my house I headed into superior with Ms. Fuller and stopped by Keyport. After telling a couple of the guys what I was doing "hahaha you need beer for a school project?" they actually got really helpful and wandered the beer section with us giving ideas of how I can do this economically (the build a 6-pack was not successful here). So after pointing out some good ideas he says hold on and heads into the back. He comes out with an assortment of like 20 bottles and cans and says here you can just have these(free beer!). After Sarah and I picked up our jaws I graciously thanked him bought a few others for the variety and this is what I made out with for the night:

I would call the night a success of great proportions.
The best side effect of this is all of my future homeworking will be more fun to do because I have to photograph all of that beer before this time next week, and I can't just pour it all down the drain...

Hows my little Generator?

well this is certainly cool too.

Hows my little shock?

Oh no

The end is near.

Hows my little update?

Madison was fun.
How am I?
Great.

Tell me something new.

ok.
Traditional style, you know Something old, something new something borrowed, something blue

Something old - My cat Jinx is old news but she is (for me anyway) really starting to come out of her shell, she plays she is a huge cuddle bug, she's black and all sorts of cute. Also something old, Laura and I got a fish this summer, it died this weekend sadly. Rest in Peace Felix you made an excellent muse in your healthy days.

Something new - Well I already told all about my computer soo...I talked to my good pal Rich (whom I met in Bemidji) and he presented me with a reason to head to Colorado(?) for a bit in the summer(?). Sweet!

Now its tricky

Something Borrowed - In school I am (learning a lot about) borrowing from what has been done and adding something different to make it better, to make it mine. I have taken this thought to heart recently and got inspired to write a motivational/inspirational post on innovation that ended up sounding preachy and lame (don't they usually?) I can't understand why people fall into the habit of routine and normalcy. I know its easy to do and many things to blame, but what can they do to make their 'daily' life better or more interesting? Have you asked yourself that lately? The better question might be, do you care if you do or don't?

Something Blue
- The cover of the Muse's album has a crazy awesome landscape picture with a really really great blue. (I didn't Cheat!) This album is simply fantastic from start to finish. I can listen to each track on its own or (preferred) all in a row and just melt into the riffs they so generously lay out for me to lose myself in. Which isn't safe to do while driving.

There a unique and challenging way to describe some different bits of life as I know it.

PS Thank you for being you. You.

Hows my little Underpants?

This weekend I forgot to pack underwear for my adventure to Madison.
Normally this isn't a problem I would just go to Target and buy some to hold out for the weekend and extend my laundry cycle and be happy.

But not today.

Maybe you haven't heard but today is the day after thanksgiving and apparently the biggest shopping day of the year. So that makes buying underwear purchasing a stressful event. Damnit.

So after a great lunch at Noodles and Co. with Laura I decided I would brave a trip to Target, because clean underwear is just more comfortable (and sanitary). After parking on mars. I began my trek across the Parking lot. I walked into target to come across the absolutely worst set-up target in the world. I've been in a plenty of targets in my day and this one approached Duluth's wal-mart in the shittiest setup ever. Anyway, after wandering all over I finally found the men's clothing section, and stood awkwardly next to this very awkward older woman looking at the men in the boxer brief pictures and standing very near to me. After she finally left I was finally able to think and grabbed my choices and left. (what happened to the weekend 3 pack anyway?)

After leaving the underwear section I headed for the DVD section (because it was right next to it) and grabbed blood diamond because it was only 4 dollars and thats hard to argue with. On my way to checkout I saw bottles of wine as an endcap and grabbed a Cabernet realizing I was in Wisconsin, this made sense and checked out, with no wait.

So my Black Friday experience actually didn't suck, which was nice. Target must have just planted all of those cars in the lot to make me think they were going to be busy. Suckers.

Hows my little BIG sexy? (revisited)

I'm still learning all about it, everything is so new its going to (and has) take a bit of putzing.

The keyboard is lying face down so I can show just how skinny it is.

This is my laptop infront of the new computer and with the keyboard on top.

It so far has been a bowl full of fun. I have also installed Vista on it which is...ok so far. I am riding the wave of Leopard and Vista right now and they are both nice and all but I keep getting asked if I'm sure I want to do something, which is driving me nuts. I am not computer illiterate and I want to tell my computer that but can't figure out how.

Ok this one was ridiculous I was running WINDOWS update and it asked me if it was ok to continue. COME ON!! way past stupid
I actually like these commercials and this one is unfortunately accurate.

Buuuut Leopard isn't perfect either I've been having my share of troubles with this too, every folder I transfer from my laptop is restriced access and I have to unlock ALL of them. Very stupid.

I do promise I really like it inbetween these setback.
Heart.
This one was for you mom.

Hows my little Mix?

Clifford this is for you.

The mix.
A mix tape or cd is a wonderful wonderful invention. Raise your hands, who has found a new songbandalbumlove from a mix that someone has made them? ^ Me too.

I used to make mixes for people all the time in high school. I was one of the few people with Napster and a 56k AND a CD burner. I usually charged people $5 for my services/the CD all while expanding my own music collection and broadening my musical tastes. Then as Cable modems, Kazaa and CD burners were found standard on computers I was out of business, which was fine. I made the occasional mix for people stopped charging and we all went on our merry ways.

It wasn't until The Anniemosity had inspired me to ask for a mix did I realize how long it has been since I have bestowed that challenge upon someone. Challenge you might ask? Yes Challenge. I have been around this music acquiring business for quite awhile I have grown to love and dislike many genres and bands in that time. But I am always jealous of other people's music collections, how they can love a song I've never heard. I wanted to be in the loop I wanted a piece of her taste.

So with that making a mix isn't just throwing a few songs from your library into your favorite burning application. Making a mix is taking a piece of your musical soul and interpreting someone else's soul and making it fit just right. After that for a good mix you need to think of the ordering of the songs. MJ can not follow System of a Down (unless maybe its smooth criminal). Its all very tricky.

Anniemosity made me a mix that is true to its definition. I have an eclectic view of what she loves right now and before. I also have two more Chili Pepper songs that I can't stop listening to. And the third track with the bass line I can't get out of my head? yes! YES!! It's all very wonderful. She even loaded me with Van Halen a band I thought I had burned out on but when placed among the other songs I listen to it the whole way through, which is saying something. Altogether she managed to rise to the challenge there has been some wonderful times in the car of late. Musically, Its what I needed and I thank you.

Hows my little photoblog?

My life in photos.
Check it out:

Drive with the Staab-man to Mad-towne for Halloween (I get really fidgety)

Laura and I had fun at a friend's friend's house. I learned all about vets.

Halloween in Madison is fun. I recommend it. If I cared about lifehouse I would have gotten closer to the stage, but since I don't here was our vantage point for their one good song.

This is Jinx's favorite spot to lay when I'm doing homework.

Wedding in madison this weekend. Notice the time. The ceremony began 15 min before this time. This was the best wedding ceremony ever because we showed up just in time for the closing procession. We hopped in line congratulated the parents, hugged the newly-weds and wet our lips for the reception. Nice.

I danced.

We did the hardest Geocache ever. [read through the clues to humor yourself] But didn't finish...yet.

This is on its way to my house...right now. Awesome.

Hows my little Socialist?

fun fact.
If facebook were a country it would be the 24th most populous country right behind Italy.

If you are an advertiser any particular member on facebook is worth $306.12.

For you myspace freaks, this one is even more crazy, if Myspaceland were a country it would rank as the fifth most populous country in the world behind Indonesia(231,627,000) and the USA(303,203,064).

yikes!

Hows my little 23rd?

My life(this weekend):
This weekend was a fun one. It kicked off with my always wonderful girlfriend trekking up from Mad-town and we had an excellent steak dinner and some delicious chocolate spice cake and ice cream. After drinking some wine we decided a trip to the red star was in store, but not before picking up Sarah and Sam from Sir Bens and a drink there. There was some dancing at the red star which was a ball.

After some much needed sleep Laura and I headed out of town to Jay Cooke state park and hiked around a little bit and did some geocacheing. (2 for 2!) It is a really cool area because of how the landscape was shaped by the mighty St. Louis river.

(not sure why it loaded on its side)

After we finished Geocacheing we went to the UMD drag show which was fun. We tried watching the jungle book but we both fell asleep a couple of times during it.

Sunday was fun too!
Laura's and I went out to Hells Kitchen for breakfast which was really delicious, I had the huevos rancheros which I recommend. Later we met up with laura's parents and we headed to the Depot which was really cool. I love learning about Duluth's history for some reason and there was much to be learned there.

That night on a spur of the moment decision Laura and I made a mad dash to the movie theater to catch the last showing of Across The Universe. I will recommend this movie to just about anyone. I'm not usually a big fan of musical movies but its such an engaging movie and oddly inspiring (to me anyway) its worth the 8 bucks.

Monday was my Birthday and Laura took me out to dinner at the brewhouse and we hit up carmodys for a couple of drinks with all sorts of cool peeps. It was very grand, and so am I.

Hows my little fatty?

another sign that humans are on their way to eating themselves to death:

Hardee's today rolled out its new Country Breakfast Burrito - two egg omelets filled with bacon, sausage, diced ham, cheddar cheese, hash browns and sausage gravy, all wrapped inside a flour tortilla. The burrito contains 920 calories and 60 grams of fat.

I'm not saying that it doesn't sound good, because it does, But come on! according to a little caloric calculator to maintain my weight I should eat on the low side of 2500 calories each day. 920 is really really close to half of what I should eat in a day, neatly wrapped in a portable burrito. (So that I can run while eating it...right?)

Jayne Hurley(nutritionist), said The "country breakfast bomb," represents half a day's calories and a full day's worth of saturated fat and salt, to say nothing of cholesterol.

Hows my little pirate

Duluth, Minnesota — Testimony today in Capitol Records, et al v. Jammie Thomas quickly and inadvertently turned to the topic of fair use when Jennifer Pariser, the head of litigation for Sony BMG, was called to the stand to testify. Pariser said that file-sharing is extremely damaging to the music industry and that record labels are particularly affected. In doing so, she advocated a view of copyright that would turn many honest people into thieves.

Pariser noted that music labels make no money on touring, radio, or merchandise, which leaves the company particularly exposed to the negative effects of file-sharing.

...

Gabriel asked if it was wrong for consumers to make copies of music which they have purchased, even just one copy. Pariser replied, "When an individual makes a copy of a song for himself, I suppose we can say he stole a song." Making "a copy" of a purchased song is just "a nice way of saying 'steals just one copy'," she said.

Hows my little beerfest?

Written Last night
Alright I suppose this entry is just as good now as it is any other time...full of beer memory "fresh" First I would like to start with apologies. anyone I sent a text message (this includes my dad). BUT! I only apologize if it was annoying.
Today I geocached! 3 for 3 YAY! afterwards I went for a run because I was late to meet my friends for:

Beerfest!! Beer fest was a grand old time. we got there at 4:30ish in the mood to sample some beers. We kicked it off with some capital brewing out of somewhere in Wisconsin...as with most of the brews from the festival. Jason and I thought it to be a great Idea to write down all of the beers that we tried to (accomplish two things) see how much we drank and to see what we liked. Jason may have fared well and kept his brochure until he got home. Alas mine was lost to the McDonald's trash can...to be honest I am really sad...Anyway I would be an asshole to dewll...so I wont

My favorite beer of the [___] That I tried was most likely from Duluth brewed Fitgers...twas quite good...if only I could remember the name (get the idea?) If that wasn't my fav it was definitely the summit pilsner....MMMMMMMMMM tasty full of good flavor and lots of yumness. My Least favorite was [_____] because it tasted like Doritos made liquid, which is actually really gross despite what you may think.

Anyway I tried a grand total of [__] beers and had a grand old time, although I did notice on my rating scale beers started to earn more smiles as the night went on, although I may have been more picky at the beginning, and I do hate to say that EVERY stout I drank tasted like crap mixed with dirt...even Guinness...what a shame.

Written Today
We Left the Joint at 8:00 I made out with four glasses and Jason as well but Dan pawned one of Jason's off to some girl Ben made out with. And somehow I ended up with a GIANT can of..

I'm not exactly sure how I ended up with that but I'm fairly certain that I got it by asking for it, which is funny because if you have tried that, it would be silly for any one to ask for it, let alone BUY it.

AFTER Brewfest we...[Dan Jason Chad Ben and I] went for a very long walk. This was to get us closer to Sarah for when she picked us up. The funny thing is none of us were exactly sure where we walked to and how we got to wherever we actually ended up. The only thing we all know for sure is there was a giant bridge we walked over with a whole bunch of trains running beneath us.

So altogether I had fun tried quite a few beers that I wouldn't normally have and can definitely call the evening an overall success.

Hows my little Vote on Looks?

3 in one day...I know but sometime you just can't keep something in. For the third entry I would like to show my faithful readers (if any of you are left) the potential presidential candidates for the November 08 election. Now if you are voting purely on looks alone The Democrats are miles ahead of the republicans. Lord knows thats how I vote. So lets Take a gander at the 08 crop:

Starting with the GOP ticket:

John McCain lacking...lacking in energy, youth, good looks, and overall happiness. Pros:looks like 25 years ago he could really kick ass (look at those shoulders!)

Rudy Giuliani I think he looks like a healthy Crpytkeeper
Pros: for an old dude he doesn't look so bad [in drag]

Fred Thompson displays his age right beneath his eyes in one all encompassing evil look.
Pros: looks like Giuliani

Dick Cheny is old tired angry and old. And angry
Pros: he doesn't look like Giuliani

Lastly:

Mitt Romney THANK GOD for the small stuff, I bet you were thinking the entire Republican Bill was full of ugly scary angry old dudes, well no not one bit. Romney wins this hands down, look! He is even tan!
Cons: Hair, do something with the hair

Now for the asses:

Hilary Clinton, I got creeeped out with how similar she looks to my mom. Only my mom [cons] doesn't look like she will burn holes in me with her eyes

Barack Obama is downright handsome boyishly cute you might even say.
Cons: His ears look like they can pick up sonar.

John Edwards looks well...seasoned he seem to be trapped between old and young and doesn't want to accept old.
Pros: Looks like he has some energy and spunk, uncommon amongst politicians.

Lastly:

Frosty The Snowman looks good because lets be honest the democratic party doesn't have any other realistic candidates. Tell them to save their money and go to Aruba.

So now its up to you faithful readers on looks alone who is your tally after, I'm giving Obama my check mark

Hows my little Lawsuit?

This is my kind of guy. Do you think the defendant will actually show up to court?

--Read on--

OMAHA, Neb -- State Senator Ernie Chambers is suing God. He says it to prove a point about frivolous lawsuits.

Chambers says senators periodically have offered bills prohibiting the filing of certain types of suits. He says his main objection is the constitution requires that the doors to the courthouse be open to all. Chambers said, "Thus anybody can file a lawsuit against anybody - even God."

Chambers said he decided to file this lawsuit after a suit was filed in early September in federal court against Lancaster County Judge Jeffre Cheuvront. He's the judge who was hearing a sexual assault case, where the woman wants to use the words "rape and victim" during her testimony.

Chambers lawsuit, which was filed on Friday in Douglas County Court, seeks a permanent injunction ordering God to cease certain harmful activities and the making of terroristic threats.

The lawsuit admits God goes by all sorts of alias, names, titles and designations and it also recognizes the fact that the defendant is “Omnipresent”.

In the lawsuit Chambers says he’s tried to contact God numerous times, “Plaintiff, despite reasonable efforts to effectuate personal service upon Defendant (“Come out, come out, wherever you are”) has been unable to do so.”

The suit also requests that the court given the “peculiar circumstances” of this case waive personal service. It says being Omniscient, the plaintiff assumes God will have actual knowledge of the action.

The lawsuit accuses God “of making and continuing to make terroristic threats of grave harm to innumerable persons, including constituents of Plaintiff who Plaintiff has the duty to represent.”

It says God has caused, “fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes, pestilential plagues, ferocious famines, devastating droughts, genocidal wars, birth defects, and the like.”

The suit also says God has caused, “calamitous catastrophes resulting in the wide-spread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth’s inhabitants including innocent babes, infants, children, the aged and infirm without mercy or distinction.”

Chambers also says God “has manifested neither compassion nor remorse, proclaiming that Defendant “will laugh” when calamity comes.

Chambers asks for the court to grant him a summary judgment. He says as an alternative, he wants the judge to set a date for a hearing as “expeditiously” as possible and enter a permanent injunction enjoining God from engaging in the types of deleterious actions and the making of

Hows my little Super 4th Year?

School began woo hoo!
I think...
So what Am I doing for school right now? Well let me tell you.

Inventing a retail store from the ground up. Our store is called truelove, its a candy store found in tourist areas, pretty sweet huh?

Making a game. I'm not sure what game exactly but if any of you know any simple interactive one person games I am open to suggestions for the next few days. My thought right now is just the memory game where you flip squares to find where a picture is located, that will probably be pretty tough as it is, so let me know!

Making a web-site. This is going to be fun for me It might also be game-like try to finish!! more on this as it develops.

Learning about the History of Photography. Anyone heard of a daguerreotype? I have.

Lastly I am making a movie based off of the three blind mice nursery rhyme, its all laid out we just need to film. It should be fun!

Hows my little interface?

Holy crap our world is so absolutely weird if you just twist yourself around and peer in from an outsiders perspective. I think about all sorts of weird things all the time and in class yesterday was no exception, except this time I had some guided stray thoughts.

The class: Interactive Design
The Subject: Interfaces
The Project: Describe an interface of something in the real world

We chose locks, which got me thinking...

Imagine the interface of a lock, that is, how exactly a lock works. I will go over this quick for the less informed.
Oh, we will be discussing your average door lock just to clarify too.

The user has a piece of metal, a key, cut in such a way that when inserted into a specially designed hole and turned it enables a door to be opened.

So that is the obvious you and I all know that but lets turn it around and look at it from an outsider's perspective:

An informed person hands you a piece of metal and tells you it will open that section of the wall. Well to me that sounds funny itself. That brings us to the functionality of the piece of metal, the oddly-shaped key can only fit into the slot one way (we presume) so the user must find where this key may be inserted to correctly open the door. Now if completely unfamiliar with a door the key could be inserted in the crack between the door and frame and become stuck, now you have a locked and stuck door, with no key. So lets assume the user finds the correct place for the key, hopefully they aren't so unlucky that the key fits upside down and right side up. And now finally our user just figured out how to unlock the door, but to the unfamiliar person they might find themselves wondering, I was told the door would open with this tool. Once again they are challenged with a new idea such that they have just unlocked the door and it is not open. I could go on with the knob and pushing but I probably already lost most of you by here so I'll wrap it up.

Since we are just taught as young children how doors and keys work we have all taken for granted how in fact these interfaces are so very complicated yet we regard them as some of the simplest things in the world. It really makes me appreciate my brain and the things it remembers.

Hows my little PC?

Today while out on a Geocaching thrice failed adventure I had a very close call with the good ol release function of my large intestine. I never knew I would say this but Thank God for the Edgewater because I knew exactly where the bathroom was and it saved a very shameful and dirty walk home.

Hows my little 2,000+ mile vaykay?

Alrighty I am past due on this one sorry folks.
Tony, what have you been doing these past few weeks?
Well I'll tell ya. I left you off at the End of our Indiana trip so a bunch of stuff has happened since then so I'll do my very best to keep it brief.

*We hung out with the family for some lunch and then headed up to madison to check out Laura's new crib, its nice.

*The next day we went to Noah's arc and had a fantastically excellent time the weather was perfect for the rides, it was about 68 and rainy so we had absolutely no lines we did all of the really fun ones a bunch and had free wet suit rentals they were nice and toasty. we continued up to Duluth that night.

*The next day we slept in and got everything ready for the next day, Boundrywaters day one!

*conveniently Laura and I have completely forgotten about day one, but if you ask me about maps, poop, steak, or chewie bars my memory may be jogged a bit.

*The rest of the trip was super fun and REEEEALLY relaxing, I started and finished a newberry prize book because I was in the mood It was called The House of the Scorpion

*on the last day we saw and listened to a couple of moose, it was really great.

*We got back and ate at hell's kitchen, my bison chuck steak was a solid OK Laura had the best burger I think I have ever eaten in a restaurant. I want to give them a second chance. I would consider going there for a drink if they had a happy hour.

*I worked and Laura packed the whole week not too much excitement, aside from...

*I adopted a kitten! she is black and becoming friendly, and very cute, I am going to name her Jinx. off to the vet sometime this week to get her all fixed and to run over a health bonus!

*This weekend was fun, I helped Laura move to Madison, but before we went we headed over to Washburn and played on her parent's boat as well as eating some good food. I even dug up some potatoes!

*The trip in Madison wasn't too eventful We had an excellent dinner and broke some stuff and got lost and dehydrated, aside from that it was great!

*Tonight I am back in Duluth, and will be missing my cuddle buddy I got so used to over the summer.

Yay! it was a fantastic way to end the summer and I relaxed recharged the batteries and am all set for a busy semester in school! I hate to say I am looking forward to classes, but damnit I like what I do in school now and don't mind one bit. So with this post comes the conclusion of the summer so expect a post-summer re-cap on my goals that I set back in april!

Hows my little hoosier?

hello world.

Laura and I have had some excellent adventures thus far on the vacation. We started off by taking Laura to a surprise concert where we saw Less than Jake and Reel Big Fish. It was an excellent show. Reel big fish (a ska band) did a great cover of Enter Sandman. Amanda and I also got temporarily kicked out, because the bartender made an awful Black Russian.

Day two:
Laura and I got up extra early when Amanda left to make bagels for the hungry, to begin our great trek to Indiana. The car ride was a fun one despite its length. During one of our rest stops I got pooped on by a flying animal. Laura was laughing too hard to inform me before I smashed it all over, good times.
That night we went Jet skiing I tried unsuccessfully to throw laura off, bummer.

Day Three:
We hung around the house in the morning, it was too hot to go outside for any great length of time. Laura got the run-down of my childhood from my mom, she had fun. Later she got a haircut by the same guy who cuts hair for some famous bands, the only one I know for sure is a band called Kill Hannah. She looks excellent with her short new do. That night we went out to dinner and I had the best prime rib I have ever had. I can't seem to put it's goodness into writing.

Day Four:
This day was quite cooler, the family and Laura got out to play some golf in the morning, I beat everyone, basically because I am really good at golf if you didn't know. Jon and his lovely girlfriend Kara paid us a visit and we all took off to a neat state park called Turkey Run. There we went on a cool adventure called Geocaching. For those not familiar all you need is the official geocache website and and a GPS unit. you find a local cache using the GPS coordinates. It was really cool, now I want a GPS of my own for this kind of adventuring. As a nightcap we did some dusk-time four wheeling, we saw some really huge spiders that Laura was deathly afraid of, but since I am a strong MAN I protected her well.

Today:
Finally today we were able to sleep in, we went to bed at 11 last night and got up around 10 today. The sleep we got was much needed. We also attended my Great Aunt and Uncles 50th wedding anniversary surprise party! I met a lot of family I didn't know I had, so did Laura, it was a grand 'ol time. The beer cheese dip was also delicious. On the way back my mom and dad had a chicken laying an egg impression contest, they were both very good and the jury is still out on the winner. Tonight My sister's train got in an accident of some sort at the time of this writing and my parents are driving up towards it to try and pick her up. she is alive and well.

Vacation so far: most excellent.
Oh and I have had some time for some art, check it out:

this is the pond my dad made it rocks.

Hows my little stray?

We have stumbled across a new friend in the back yard, it is black cute furry and cuddly. Laura and I have decided to call it jinx. She is a very cute little cat that I will probably adopt. Thing is I am taking a two week vacation and we would leave so we very well can't adopt it now. Also our neighbors know about her and one is saying it attacked her. (we were eves dropping last night) and since Laura and I have met it she has shown no signs of rabies, only cute. So the neighbors are eventually going to catch this cat and take it to an animal shelter. I hope that she lives, I wouldn't mind this cat, she is ultra friendly and likes me, I think.

I think that I'll be calling the shelter before I go asking if they see this cat turn up to place her on hold for me until I return.

Hows my little life?

Its good today.

Life is good in general. I've noticed I haven't really given a Tony's life update in a while. Well, I reiterate it is good. I have been pretty damn busy, this is one of the first times in a long time I've had a chance to scroll through all of my fellow blogger links at once in a while.

So the burning question; Tony, What have you been up to?
Response (bulleted):
*Well the full time job sucks up about 40ish hours each week.
*I just finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (it was wonderful)
*My part time job is going really really well! I made a brochure and possibly have secured the position for the Late Night Kirby Shirt design. Last week I spent 13 additional hours working for them.
*I have been seeing lots of good movies with Laura.
*I still haven't heard back from my water pictures and that 'job'.
*I got run over by a kid and his Cherokee while coming back from work. I'm fine only a little scrape on my ankle, although since my bike had a flat I was riding Laura's in the meantime. The damages alone are worth more than my bike but about half of what Laura's was worth. The kid has been very kosher and is paying it all.
*I am making another batch of wine, it will be called Scarlet Caboose and is a Cabernet Sauvingon (sarah this will probably be your favorite of the wines I've made) and it is deeeeeeelicious, donations accepted.
*laura and I are going on a two week vacation in a week and can't wait to really relax for the first time in ages. The destinations: Indiana, Madison, Noah's Arc, BWCA
*I have been contemplating the phrase "these are the best times of your life" lately.
*The AC in my car went out, got fixed for a few minutes and went out again. Lame. My windshield wipers got in a fight and one broke the other. More Lame.

At the beginning of the summer I found myself in a rut of the same 'ol same 'ol daily and tried to break from it, I think I have done an excellent job of it and that is quite excellent.

I have so far read 4 books this summer including, The BFG, Kite Runner, Life of Pi, and Harry potter. I am hoping to move on to Deception Point by Dan Brown, and another one called Middlesex. Reading this good fiction has been very refreshing. Oh and I will recommend all of these books to the curious.

I have also watched so little TV I am having trouble justifying paying for even the basic cable.

I have also reaffirmed how much I positively hate, wait, loathe the heat. for 5 nights in a row I slept naked and no sheets because I was sweating from lying down, that my friends, no matter how you cut it, is intolerable.

Thats about it, my life as of late, I think it will calm down a bit when school starts in a month. Ciao!

Hows my little message?

Leaving and retrieving messages on phones is growing more painful.
The advent of the answering machine ages ago was a godsend for some and a pain in the ass for others.
So the modern answering machine has been around since the early 80s giving basically EVERY SINGLE PERSON who knows how to use a phone a very solid understanding of the purpose and normal operation of said machine. So when the advent of personalized messages came about and people could leave funny, cute, and sultry messages to would be callers, mostly at first instructing them to leave a message after the beep the world was a happy place.

Well over 20 years have passed since this era began (and passed). Caller ID was an angel sent from heaven, and now we all have cell phones, with some families have more that 4 phone numbers under their surname and we still have damn people telling me to leave messages after the beep. STOP! I know when to leave the message You know when to leave the message. In case you didn't when your recording stops and an unnatural sound happens the time to begin recording the message has begun.

BUT WAIT!!

If only it were that simple.
Now we have the cell Phone wench telling me that I can leave a call back number OR leave a message. First what the hell is a call back number? Is that basically a page for my cellphone recently converted to a beeper (ha remember those, how ridiculous) No, in fact Fuck no! I am calling this person to exchange some type of information with them be it the weather in their location, or when to meet for dinner. I have never thought, oh hey, I'll just leave them a numerical message that they can decipher if they have the wit ( 55378008 - or - 7734) to figure out. NO! If they don't answer I want to leave them a message, telling them that Duluth is foggy and Dinner is roasting on the grill. Thats it, come on!

Don't get me started about the bitch that cuts me off mid-message because I only have 8 seconds (or no seconds) of recoding left.

So in short
People: lets get with it, everyone knows they shouldn't start talking before the tone.
Phone companies: Turn off the lady Post-recording because damnit I only want to leave a message, I don't care to listen to it afterwards or even leave a "callback number".

Just play the damn beep.

Hows my little veggie?

This one has been a long time coming, two failed attempts and a lot more thought, here goes:

I hate broccoli.

I hate it a lot. In the past I would spend time thinking about my disdain for broccoli, but now that I never ever experience broccoli I don't ever find myself thinking about how little I like it, but possibly fearing the next time I will have it.

Nowadays I find myself in a really great position of trying to listen to how much my friends eat so much broccoli in their lives they are ashamed to brag about about how satisfied they are with it. Which is not cool, I wish that they would just talk MORE about it. It would always be great to hear about and I'm sure would never get old. I want to hear every last broccoli craving and more, More! MORE!!

Maybe to remedy this though instead of wishing to hear more of people's broccoli cravings, I shall rant farther on how much I hate it, and about how elated I am about broccoli never ever being in my life. Because really, its never in my house, no one here likes it that much at all. I sit on my couch and thank the lord that no broccoli has ever been there, or in my bedroom I am ecstatic that broccoli will never be enjoyed within these walls.

What really upsets me about me and how little I like broccoli though, is that broccoli can be had in so many different ways. I feel like I haven't even scraped the surface of the different ways that that could try broccoli, who knows maybe sometime I'll find a way to have broccoli that wouldn't be so bad, and I just may end up liking the stuff. Until then, You can find me in the broccoli haters corner.

Well its off to work now, we are celebrating opposite day, maybe you didn't notice by now, but it definitely has been all day!

Hows my little MostlyFiction?

It was a warm night.
The four of us had just locked our bikes and were waiting patiently for the scary tattooed man to stamp his insignia on our wrists in order for us to enter the club.
As we entered, the humidity rose significantly, I began to sweat. Upstairs we watched the mass of people swirling and shaking like a busy ant hill on a warm summer day. I ordered my drink and as I walked from the bar she caught my eye, a white dress, red trim, much shorter than me. As I approached her her smell beckoned me with a pheromone I could not ignore. No. I returned to the dance floor with my group.
We formed a circle, a circle being the strongest shape, most uneasily broken.

There she was again.
She had broken the circle.
I imagine she was in heat.

Her body twisting snapping in the ways I have only seen pop stars move.
Then it began.
He might have been a zombie who enjoyed premium strutted by. She struck with an undulating force I have never seen. The white dress billowing back ad fourth with each snap of her hips.
I was shocked, nay, horrified. She continued along with her thrusting, spinning and shaking. Nearly every XY moving by could not feasibly make their way without experiencing her wrath upon their leg. She was like a puppy just finding out what that part of his body did.
I watched captivated, long finished with my drink, I couldn't stop. The girl was an enchantress of horror. Thankfully we decided to leave ridding me of the girl in the white dress. It will be a long while before I return there to move my body in a provacative way again.
Too much love proved to be too much love for me.

Hows my little love/hate pt.II?

Last night Laura and I had had a movie in the park experience and it was very wonderful. On the way we saw the nearly full moon rising over the lake, it was BEAUTIFUL!

Since it was my first movie in the park adventure I was completely un-expectant of what lay before me:

(you should click on this to really see this spectacle)

If you look at the group on the far right, they would not shut the hell up throughout the entire movie, which nearly ruined the experience for me...but my good company being Laura, and a surprise guest appearance Kristen M. Pederson made it all better. You just can't ruin Harry Potter though.

It was a good free way to spend a Friday night.

Hows my little want?

I want...

I want so much for me and my life right now and into the future I don't know where to start.
I mean I am starting in a good spot with a college degree I guess. I really enjoy my homework and what I learn in classes but I want, yearn even for something more something extra. I don't sit down at my computer nightly and read about the latest designer's poster or the newest joke about the comic sans font, no I read current events, and technology news/gossip I try to understand technology and where it is and where it's headed. If I were to walk into an interview and be asked Who is my favorite graphic designer? I wouldn't know but I could tell them the latest rumor about the iPhone or my speculation on the Sirius/XM merger, or how I could hook my Slingbox pro to an apple TV and have a really great mobile set-up.
Then again, I could just take pictures of people or things, that could get me somewhere, but not somewhere quickly unfortunately.
In life I am not really asking to be particularly wealthy nor prestigious but i want a job that will pay the bills, and still allow me to duck out early on a Friday to meet someone for ice cream on a beach.
But, I DON'T want to settle for a job, after I finish school I am going to work where I want to work.
I want to leave, I like the mid-west, I like Duluth (mostly) and I like where I grew up, but I am leaving. While working my monotonous possibly career assisting job I find myself thinking, no, dreaming of where I am going to find a place to live work and eat after I graduate. Damn if the ocean isn't within reasonable driving distance you won't find me there. Costa Rica, Hawaii, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia? all interesting prospects.
I want so much for myself I still don't know where to start, but at the end of the day when I cuddle up for sleep I smile and fall asleep knowing that it's going to work out in the end because it always does, you and I both know that.

With that goes the quote I posted earlier "Before you begin, set aside your fear."

I know a few people in life right now who read this blog who could take those few words and really think on them. I know that in order for me to achieve my wants I need to set aside my own fears which I am finally ready to do.

Hows my little inspired quote?

Very simple today:

Before you begin, set aside your fear.

I am a big fan of quotes that make me think and motivate me. This is another one that I don't think I'll forget soon.

Hows my little little post?

How am I? Pretty dang splendid, thanks.
Lately life has been good, I am just starting to get into the swing of having a 40 hour work week that works from a normal time to a normal time. But let me say, this job has proven to be much much better than any of my jobs at the Edge. Not going to school has been really really great too. Thats all for today.

Hows my little Doctor?

HE IS (almost) FREE!!!!

"Dr. Death" or Jack Kevorkian is about to be released from prison, this is good news to some and very bad news for others. I've decided it's good news, Kevorkian is a saint and a good man I have decided over the years. In high school I gave a debate on assisted suicide, because I am pro-choice.

Wait, Pro-choice is for abortions right? well, technically yes, in this case no. I believe that we as human beings were born to make decisions with their lives, for better or for worse. We all choose who our friends are, who we choose to hang out with, activities we like to do, and simple things such as if we should jump off the last 4 steps or walk down them.

So if we are all born with the ability to choose what we would rather do, why can we not choose to die if our lives are in such a miserable condition you can not continue with them?

Kevorkian managed to bring this choice to his patients around the nation. I do not consider him a murder on the sole count that he never actually killed anyone, he prescribed the drugs that would eventually kill his patients and assisted with administration. Many of the families he helped would say that he did the right thing and would recommend his services to other families where someone they love dear is suffering.

If you read the linked article you can find what He will be doing with his time outside of prison, and I agree with it. If someone thinks their life is in such bad shape they need to die, they should be able to choose a physician to help them with the pain of their death. If you were convinced you were ready to die how would you do it? Slash your wrists, use a gun, hang? or would you choose the option of a quiet painless death?

The choice is yours not anyone else's, just like everything in life.

Hows my little interweb?

I am finally starting to understand just how to go about making a website, for me it involves and Idea, a Plan, and then A LOT of work. Yesterday I sat down in the library for what I was expecting to be an easy 3 or 4 hour hack session at the computer. Little did I know that making a little portion of my web site scroll and click out to another picture was going to be so hard, but with the help of the lovely Anniemosity and her wonderful understanding of all that is .html I was able to prevail.

This site is considerably better than the last one I think, it's still the same principal but its quite decent. After sitting down at the computer at 3pm I left around 12am with a sore back but a sense of accomplishment. I want to know what you think, about everything, my profolio is a bit more extensive as well as a bonus part that was needed to fulfill this assignment under the Tony! link.

Like always be honest.

Hows my little Tooth?

Grills are a hip-hop trend that needs to end faster than it started, I can't stand to see a whole video with the damn things in their mouth. Yuck.
