Hows my little landscaper?

This weekend Laura Chip and I made a landscaping adventure for ourselves. And it was great. It started by going to a park down here and getting beyond disappointed by its selection. The sale was held in a garage and it looked like some sticks were in buckets on a table. I was ready to cry because I had been excited for it for the past few weeks. So we went to the local nursery dropped some cash and said YO! plants, come live in our yard! and they said sure why not.

We bought two Lilacs a Dogwood and a Tulip Tree. They are all small but we will nurse them into mighty shrubs and tree. For most of you this will be the first image you see of the outside of our house. I hope you enjoy it!

The two Lilacs are on the lower right and the dogwood is next to the garage. That is our alley on the far side. We drive there sometimes.

Chip was very helpful. Notice my sunburn starting. My back is still tender.

We planted the garden on Sunday. Laura supervised me because she wasn't feeling the best. Last night at about 9:30pm I ran outside and planted a bunch of tomatoes that I had started inside and some damn critter ate a whole bunch of them! We planted Beans, Tomatoes, Onions, Cucumbers, Peppers, Potatoes, Squash, Carrots and some herb I can't pronounce nor do I know what to cook it into.

Hows my little guy?

Reading:
The Watchmen Graphic Novel - So far pretty good and a very different reading experience
The Omnivore's Dilemma - Only a few pages into it but I think I'll be ready to quit eating food purchased outside of a farmer's market.

Unrelated fun food fact: The average food Item travels 1500 miles to reach the mouth it feeds. Obese people are causing global warming.

I recently finished reading The Two Towers and Laura and I just watched the movie, holy cow they are different! But the movie was still really good. (hear that twilight!?!)

Its supposed to be 80 this weekend, We are going to buy bushes and go hunting for some mushrooms! I'm pumped! Bring it on garden!

Now that I'm a homeowner watching HGTV is actually interesting.

I'm building a rain barrel.

One of my coworkers consistently has bad breath, it really grosses me out.

Anyone know some good cooking with beer recipes?

Hows my litte survivor?

I died yesterday!

I didn't really. Now, I know that I posted this on facebook so don't get all frustrated with my double posting but, I like using this blog as a record of my life and since this was my first (of hopefully many!) headstones I thought I would plop it on here to look back at fondly.

We are planting a garden soon! Hurray!

Hows my little digger?

This weekend I decided, Hey, I have a shovel, potential garden space, grass covering it and a chunk of lawn without grass. Hmmmm I think.

Oooh! I'm going to dig up the grass and place it on the dirt patch and have a new grassy spot and a new dirt spot for my soon to be garden! Sweet! After about 3 hours of back destroying labor I moved approximately 3 square feet of grass and threw in the towel.

Nature: 1
Tony's bright money saving Ideas: 0
Bag of grass seed: $7

I got my farmers tan started on Saturday and this morning this is what I saw!?

Now I know I can't complaing, but we have little leafs on many trees down here, you can understand I'm sure.

Note: the sad and lonely patch of dirt in the back. Also note my neighbor's shitty ugly car on a trailer...grr.
