Here it is in pictures..(most of the rather unsightly turkey photos have been omitted)
I made the worlds ugliest french bread for stuffing.
Turkey rub, this went mostly under the skin. |
Ninja fast chopper! |
Keeping with the Jacobson tradition of naming our Turkey this is me giving Simon a good rub under the skin.
15 pounds of turkey for two people! We ordered a turkey from a local farmer. Our small size was supposed to be up to 13 pounds. Good thing we like leftovers.
My great-grandma Murphy used to make the best noodles in the world. Last year Laura learned from my sister and got the recipe. We made a good noodle dish this year!
Since our brussels sprouts are still going strong in the garden we thought it would keep with the bountiful harvest theme of thanksgiving and include food we grew.
Simon's breasts got a bit dark but were phenomenal!
Breasts and Drumsticks. The rest got carved up later. |
Beer braised brussels sprouts with bacon, and stuffing. |
Only one helping needed for this guy. |
Laura made a vanilla bourbon pumpkin pie from one of the pumpkins that we got at the great pumpkin patch. It's the tan/peach looking one. It was so yummy!
Last night we canned some turkey broth with our pressure canner we got this year. Gotta make use of every pound of Simon!
Altogether it was a great thanksgiving feast that we enjoyed for three more meals in it's entirety afterwards.
